Serena Williams Wins 2010 Australian Open: Top-seeded American Serena Williams captured her fifth Australian Open title with a 3-set, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, victory over former world No.1 Justine Henin at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, Saturday morning. Serena Williams [-125 ML] entered the 2010 Australian Women’s Final as a slight sports betting odds favorite over Justine Henin [-105 ML]. The win brought Serena to a tie with the great Billie Jean King for 12-career Grand Slam victories.

Although Henin had most of the crowd support, Serena proved that she’s still the best in the world. But even the Williams couldn’t help but admire and appreciate what became an exciting first chapter in the great comeback of the 7-time Grand Slam Belgian champ. “It's good to have her back, it's exciting,” Williams said of Henin. “She can definitely be No.1, especially with our ranking system, if she keeps doing well.”

Henin, who came in as a wild card, unranked and unseeded, went on to stun four seeded players on her way to the 2010 Australian Open final. By far the most prominent name on her victims list is world No.5 and Olympic gold medalist, Elena Dementieva of Russia.

“It's been a very emotional two weeks for me,” Henin said as she thanked the Aussie crowd. “I thought it would never happen to me again. I'd like to congratulate Serena. She's a real champion.”

What an exciting finish this was to a great start of the Grand Slam tennis season! Congratulations to all those that bet on Serena to bring home the bacon, but we are not done, ladies and gentleman!
